Using Dynamic EQ with Sidechain

Oct 11, 2017 | 173,070 Views

Can’t get your vocals to cut through a busy beat? Learn a simple trick to make more room for vocals even when the beat behind them is already complete.

By inserting the F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ on the beat and setting an external sidechain to your lead vocal, you can effectively attenuate the beat, only in the cluttered frequencies, and only when the vocalist enters the mix. As the sidechain sees the vocal signal, it will duck the problematic frequencies across your beat as they cross the threshold, making the room you need, when you need it, and avoiding too much clutter.

In this video, we show you how to get set up and use this problem-solving technique.
