How to Install the SoundGrid Driver on Your DiGiCo Console

Nov 30, 2021

In order to control SuperRack SoundGrid directly from your DiGiCo console via the remote-control module, you will need to make sure that the Waves SoundGrid Driver is installed on your console.

First, let’s check if the console already has the driver installed.

  1. On the console, exit to Windows
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
  3. Check if the SoundGridProtocol.sys file is present
  4. If present, great! Proceed to set up remote control

If this file does not exist, this means that the SoundGrid Driver is not installed on the console. Follow these steps to install it:

  1. Download the SoundGrid Driver here and unzip it to a FAT32 formatted USB key.
  2. Make sure to disable DiGiCo’s disk protection mechanism (HORM/Ready-On) per DiGiCo’s instructions:
    • For SD12 and other Win7 based mixers refer to this page.
    • For Q7 & Q5 refer to this page.
    • For Quantum 225/338 refer to this page.
    • For SD console series that use Ready-On refer to this page.
  3. Once you disable the HORM/Ready-On, install the SoundGrid driver:
    • Exit to Windows.
    • Run the “Double Click to Install.bat." file located on the USB key.
  4. When the installation is complete, re-enable HORM/Ready-On and save an image.
  5. Power-cycle the console.

At this point the SoundGrid driver is installed. Proceed to set up remote control.
