How to Trigger Live Pitch Correction in Logic Pro

Learn how to set up Waves Tune, Waves Tune LT and Waves Tune Real-Time as AU MIDI-controlled effects in Logic Pro, so you can trigger pitch corrections and manipulate recorded tracks with a MIDI keyboard.

Waves Tune / Waves Tune LT: MIDI triggering pitch-correction in Logic Pro

  1. Create an audio track with the vocal content you wish to tune.
  2. Keep this track muted or assign it to ‘No Output’.
  3. Create a new Software Instrument track.
  4. Under Instrument menu, scroll down to AU MIDI-controlled Effects > Waves, and select Waves Tune or Waves Tune LT (Mono or Stereo).
  5. Open the Waves Tune plugin interface. At the top-right corner, choose Side Chain Source, and select the vocal track from step #1.
  6. Play your audio content once to scan it into Waves Tune's interface. (If the ReWire link cannot be established, please refer to this page for ReWire setup).
  7. Arm Receive MIDI at the top-left of the plugin interface, above the piano roll.
  8. Make sure Record Enable (red R button) in the Instrument track is armed.
  9. Play or record some notes. The plugin will react to the midi notes you are playing on your keyboard.

Waves Tune Real-Time: MIDI triggering pitch correction in Logic Pro

  1. Create an audio track with the vocal content you wish to tune.
  2. Keep this track muted or assign it to ‘No Output’.
  3. Create a new Software Instrument track.
  4. Under the Instrument menu, scroll down to AU MIDI-controlled Effects > Waves, and select Waves Tune Real-Time (Mono or Stereo, depending on the audio track you’ve created).
  5. Make sure Record Enable (red R button) in the Instrument track is armed.
  6. Open the Waves Tune Real-Time plugin interface.
    • At the top-right corner, choose Side Chain Source, and select the audio track from step #1.
    • At the bottom left corner, under MIDI INPUT / KEYBOARD, engage the Target Pitch button.
  7. Play or record some notes. The plugin will react to the MIDI notes you are playing on your keyboard.
