How to Update SuperRack LiveBox D Clara E Dante to the Latest Version

Learn how to update your SuperRack LiveBox D Clara E Dante to the latest version.

Please note: Only perform this procedure during downtime, not in a time-sensitive setting.

To install the latest Marian Clara E Dante card driver and firmware, follow the steps below:

Connect the following via a 1Gbps network switch:

  1. A WiFi router (for Internet Access – to download the Marian Clara E driver).
  2. Primary port of the Clara E RJ45 Dante card (Port #1).
  3. LiveBox RJ45 network port (labeled ‘Network’). connect the following via a 1Gbps network switch

Make sure Firewall is disabled:

  1. In the Windows task bar (bottom right corner), click on the Ethernet icon and click on ‘Open Network & Internet Settings’. Open Network & Internet Settings
  2. In the left panel, click on Ethernet, and click on Windows Firewall click on Ethernet, and click on Windows Firewall
  3. Disable Firewall:
    Go through each network one by one (Domain, Private and Public Networks) and disable Windows Defender Firewall.
    It should look like this: disable Windows Defender Firewall

Update the Dante Controller Application:

  1. Access the Windows Start menu, type ‘Dante Controller’ and launch the Dante Controller application.
  2. In the Dante Controller application: Go to Help > Check for Updates Go to Help Check for Updates
  3. If a newer version is available, install the update.

Update the Marian Clara E Windows Driver

To install the latest Marian Clara-e Windows driver, follow the steps below:

Download the latest Marian driver package (.zip):

  1. Go to the Marian.de downloads section.
  2. Under Windows 10/11 – Click Download.
    • This will download the latest available driver package.
  3. Go to the Downloads folder and extract the mabs_w10_XXX.zip file.

Install the driver:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Click on Clara E.
  3. Under Sound, video and game controllers:
    • Right-click on Clara E and select Update driver.
    • Select Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Navigate to the extracted mabs_w10_XXX folder and click Next.
    • If prompted with messages regarding incompatible firmware, ignore or skip these messages.
  4. Under Software Components:
    • Right-click on Clara E and select Update driver.
    • Select Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Navigate to the same mabs_w10_XXX folder and proceed with the installation.
    • If prompted with messages regarding incompatible firmware, ignore or skip these messages.
  5. Restart your computer.

Check Driver Update Results

After restarting, verify that the driver update was successful:

  • The Clara E icon should appear in the Windows taskbar.
    • Click on the icon and select About.
    • Confirm that the driver version matches the installed driver package (mabs_w10_XXX).

OR

  • A firmware update request message may appear in the Clara E GUI:
    • Click No (for verification purposes).
    • Open the Taskbar icon menu > About and confirm that the version matches the installed driver package (mabs_w10_XXX).
    • If the version is correct, proceed to update the Clara-e Dante firmware as instructed in the 'Update the Dante Firmware’ section below.

If the Clara E icon does NOT appear and no firmware update message is displayed, continue with the next troubleshooting steps, which involve completely removing all drivers and reinstalling fresh.

Uninstall the current Marian Clara E driver using Marian’s uninstaller:

  1. Download the uninstaller app from this link (rmce zip).
  2. Go to File Explorer > Downloads folder and unzip the rmce.zip file.
  3. Inside the rmce folder, right click on rmce.bat and select ‘Run As an Administrator’.
    This will automatically run the uninstaller.
  4. Once the uninstallation process is finished, you will be prompted to press any key to continue.
  5. Restart the LiveBox.

Check Removal Results

Verify that the Clara E driver and firmware have been completely removed:

  • Confirm that the Clara E icon does not appear in the Windows taskbar.
  • In Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers, verify that “Clara E” is not listed.
  • In Device Manager, under Software Components, verify that “Clara E” is not listed.

If all of the above conditions are met, skip the ‘More Cleanup Required’ section below and continue from the Download the latest Marian Driver package .zip section.

If any of the above conditions are not met, follow the steps in the More Cleanup Required section below.

More Cleanup Required

If Clara E components are still present on your system, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. In the top menu, click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Under Software Components:
    • Right-click on each instance of Clara E and select Uninstall device.
  4. Under Sound, video and game controllers:
    • Right-click on each instance of Clara E and select Uninstall device.
  5. If prompted, enable “Delete the driver software for this device” (if available).
  6. Restart the system.

After restarting, return to the Check Removal Results section and verify that all components have been successfully removed.

Download the latest Marian Driver package .zip:

Skip this step if you have already downloaded the latest driver package.

  1. Go to the Marian.de downloads section.
  2. Click on Clara E.
  3. Under Windows 10/11 – Click Download.
    This will download the latest available driver. step 3
  4. Go to the Downloads folder and extract the mabs_w10_XXX.zip file.

Install the Clara E driver and Dante firmware:

Install the latest Clara E Driver:

  1. Press the Windows [Start] button, type ‘Device Manager’ and launch ‘Device Manager’. step 1
  2. In the Device Manager, under ‘Other Devices’, right-click on Multimedia Controller and click Update Driver. click Update Driver If you do not see ‘Multimedia Controller’, then click on the View > Show Hidden Devices, and verify again. click Update Driver
  3. Click on ‘Browse my computer for driver software’ . Browse my computer for driver software
  4. Navigate to the extracted folder (C:\Users\SuperRack LiveBox\Downloads\mabs_XXXX) and click OK. step 5
  5. Click ‘Next’. step 6
  6. Once done, a window will prompt you that the installation was successful. Click Close. step 7
  7. A prompt stating that the Dante firmware is not compatible will be displayed. Click Yes to execute the necessary firmware update, proceed to the step below. step 8

Update the Dante Firmware:

  1. In the Clara E firmware Update Window, click on ‘Start Dante Firmware Update Manager now’. step 1 Note: If you did NOT receive the firmware message (step #7 above), then follow step #2 below (otherwise skip this step).
  2. In the Windows Taskbar (bottom right), click on the triangle ( ^ ) icon, select the Clara E icon, and click ‘Settings’. step 2
  3. In the Firmware Tab, click on ‘Start Dante Firmware Update Manager now’. step 3
  4. In the Dante Firmware Update Manager, select ‘Livebox ETH’ and click ‘Next’.

  5. In the Dante Firmware Update Manager click on ‘Update Dante Firmware’ step 4
  6. Click ‘Browse’. step 6
  7. The following message will appear, click ‘Ok’. step 7
  8. In the File Explorer window, make sure that you are inside the Dante Firmware Update Manager folder (C:\ProgramData\MARIAN\Dante Firmware Update Manager), select the latest Clara E Dante firmware (clara_e_revXX_xxxx.dnt) and click ‘Open’. step 8
  9. Wait a few moments until you see the Clara E Dante card appear. Checkmark Clara E and click ‘Start’. step 9
  10. Carefully read the warning message and click ‘Ok’. step 10 Important note: This process may take a few minutes. Do NOT turn off your device during the process.
  11. Once done, click ‘Ok’. step 11
  12. Click ‘Quit’. step 12
  13. In the Clara E Firmware tab, click ‘Execute manual restart now’. step 13

At this point, your LiveBox D Clara E and Dante drivers and firmware are up to date.

You can restore the firewall settings to their previous configuration, using the same instructions as above.
