Apple Silicon Support for Waves Plugins

May 18, 2025

With the release of Waves V13 plugins, we announce full official Apple Silicon support for host applications that are themselves Apple Silicon-compatible. In addition, we announce full official Apple Silicon support for V13 SoundGrid applications and above.

Plugin Support:

  • V14 and above: Full native Apple Silicon support in all plugin formats (VST3, Audio Units, AAX)
  • V13: Full native Apple Silicon support for hosts that use VST3 and Audio Units.
In Pro Tools, V13 plugins will only work when running Pro Tools using the Rosetta 2 emulator.
  • V12 and below: No native Apple Silicon support in any plugin format. Altough we don’t officially support it, the plugins may work when running your host application using the Rosetta 2 emulator.

Please refer to the Supported Hosts page to make sure the version of plugins is supported on the version of your host application.

Waves V13 SoundGrid Applications & Driver and above are fully supported in Apple Silicon processors on macOS 12 and up.

Follow these important steps to install SoundGrid Applications on your Apple Silicon Mac computers.

  • SuperRack SoundGrid
  • SuperRack Performer
  • eMotion LV1
  • SoundGrid QRec
  • SoundGrid Driver

Exceptions:

  • Waves plugins are not supported in OBS Studio on Apple Silicon, with or without Rosetta 2.
  • Clarity Vx V13 and Clarity Vx Pro V13 are only supported when using Rosetta 2. Clarity Vx and Clarity Vx Pro V14 and above are fully supported natively.
  • COSMOS Sample Finder, Curves AQ, Key Detector, StudioVerse and Sync Vx as well as all SoundGrid applications and drivers, require the Rosetta 2 emulator to install and run. Installing these products (or bundles that contain them) is not possible without Rosetta 2 installed on your computer. We are working to add native Apple Silicon support in the future.
  • ReWire: The ReWire software protocol does not work on Apple Silicon processors.
  • Sync Vx: Only supported in Logic when running Logic using Rosetta 2.
  • H-Reverb, IR-1 plugins: While these plugins run fine natively in the DAWs listed above, when running in the Rosetta 2 emulator environment, H-Reverb and IR-1 display graphic issues.
  • C6 Multiband Compressor (Mono): While this plugin runs fine natively in the DAWs listed above, when running in the Rosetta 2 emulator environment, C6 Mono does not function properly.

We will update this page with new developments as they are available.
